PostSubject: 1970s Fictional Nation RP   Sat Apr 21, 2012 5:19 pm

Looking for interest in a Nation RP set in the 1970s with two super Powers around 200 - 250 Million population, both with the best technology on the planets. Possibly a third nation with ~700 - 800 Million population with very low tech. Then a mix of other nations with populations as follows:

30 - 50Million with high tech/high econ (1st world)
50 - 100 Million with Low tech/low econ (3rd world)
10 - 30 Million with Low tech/high econ

Simply post intention here.

4 people is decent enough to get into a region issue. I was thinking of some ideas we could base our RP on. Here are the regional issues I was considering:

1. South East Asia; 1st World Super Power engaged in a war in small third world nation that is funded by the other 1st world super power.

2. Central Africa; Old Colonial powers have vacated the region and now people drunk with power and no understanding of how to govern are left to try to organize things.

3. Arab-Israeli Wars; One unacceptable nation is deposited into a region with other nations that don't want them there.

thoughts?

Me too. If we have more people, I could justify the existence of one of the super powers. But with only four participants it seems pitiful to play the superpowers. I like the African scenario, because in the 1970s, there were many civil wars involving mercenary armies and struggles between neighbors. This was a very volatile time for the nations of central Africa. It still is, but the time period from the 1970s up through the year 2000, were the worst.

I agree 100% Central Africa would be fun as hell. But if we could get 10-11 people the Middle East could be epic. Just imagine Iraq VS Iran while Israel is getting battered.

You can participate as long as there are no characters named Jesse or Brian and that you use descriptive language between your quoted phrases. You've gotten better in that regard. Let's go one step further. Wink

African Wars
1970s

I found seventeen separate incidents of war brought on by Colonial independence in Africa during the 1970s. If all are in agreement, we can RP various fictional nations in the Central - Southern African region based on the nations involved in this war and use them as models. We obviously don't have to stick to their timeline or the events that happened during the real wars.

A recapitulation of the nations involved in wars during this time period are:
Sudan
Angola
Guinea-Bissau
Rhodesia
Mozambique
Chad
South Africa
Namibia
Ethiopia
Western Sahara
Somalia
Zaire
Uganda
Tanzania

Some of these wars had armies/soldiers from European or Asian nations involved. But the one element that lingered throughout the 70s, were Mercenaries.

Been waiting for the others to reply but this would be epic. Maybe a start in 1955 so that we can hit most if not all of them?

WE don't need to start in 1950. We can assume that some of them are ongoing.

LOL. I was thinking the same thing, but Angola and Rhodesia were pretty busy in the 70s. Maybe Uganda? and have Idi Amin Dada!?

You can have South Africa. I'm going to take Rhodesia; or what is currently called Zimbabwe. This was another White dominated African Country that saw nothing but fighting throughout the decade of the 1970s.
