World War II

There were different rank names for different Branches. The Waffen SS ranks were not the same in the Wehrmacht.

Obergrenadier - Lance-corporal
Sturmann/Rottenführer - Corporal
Unterscharführer - Lance-Sergeant
Scharführer - Sergeant
Oberscharführer - Color-Sergeant
Hauptscharführer - Warrant Officer 2nd Class (NCO)
Sturmscharführer - Warrant Officer 1st Class (NCO)
